The Part Time Entrepreneur

The 5 to 9 life to creating successful businesses while still having a full time job

The Singapore Entrepreneur

Walking in the footsteps of his father, Alvin had a keen interest towards entrepreneurship since young and started his first business at the tender age of only 13. It was a time before globalisation and he realised the stark price difference in Nike shoes sold in Singapore as compared to Vietnam. He made use of the fact that his dad was stationed in Vietnam for work, and got his dad to bring the Nike catalogue back. Alvin would then show the catalogue to his friends and got his dad to bring back the shoes his friends wanted, earning a quick $5 to 10 per shoe.

By the age of 25, Alvin has already seen success in an independent working environment and rose to be one of the youngest Investment Portfolio Managers managing a fund size of approximately SGD$600k.

Despite the success, he pursued his entrepreneurial calling and started The Sock Avenue, Singapore's leading B2B & B2C socks supplier that supplied apparels to National University of Singapore, Methodist Girls School, Singapore Police Force etc, and was even featured at the country's SG50 National Day Parade.

Alvin's ability to spot opportunities led him to continue starting many other businesses and websites such as Livelaughtravel.net (Award Winning Singapore Travel blog), The Collective Memories (Singapore Wedding Photographer), Shadespace (First e-commerce window furnishing platform), The Collective Intelligence (Singapore Artificial Intelligence Hub), The Collective Media (Singapore Singapore Digital Marketing Agency and many others.

Through his colourful career, Alvin has found his calling in Digital marketing and till date, manages more than 5 successful businesses, over half a dozen of webpages with over 100k+ followers across various platform, and plays an advisory role in several other businesses.
